Gorgeous!!! I wouldn\'t care if the pullet had a clean face, wry tail, and feathers on her shanks; she would have to be a keeper for me. LOL

I\'m sure you are right.  It is a novelty, but not a color that would be close to the average blue egg.  
The brown modifiers are not only there, but being her first egg it may have been a long time in being developed and laid.  That probably contributed to the darkness of the shell, just as brown eggs are darker brown when they travel more slowly thru the oviduct.
