I thought I would share my breeding plans for my bantam lavender and what I hope to accomplish. My recessive white bantams are excellent layers of large [for bantam] eggs of a good sky blue.I put my lav roosters over these hens and started saving eggs. This will produce blacks split for lav and white. Some color leakage in males is expected but already happens in lav.I should gain in egg size, egg color and laying.I plan to mate these splits together and save the lav offspring to try and fix these gains in the lav line. The white bantams lay eggs from 1 oz to 1 3/8 oz.This past year I got 12 eggs daily out of 15 hens for most of the spring and summer. The lavs lay eggs of 7/8 oz to 1 oz and every other day plus lots of slow downs.Hope this is of interest to some of you.

How are you going to manage the ol\' recessive white popping up in the future?
