Wisconsin State Meet

The 2012 Wisconsin State Meet was judged September 22 at the Wisconsin Poultry Club Show at Portage, Wisconsin.   Only five large fowl were shown, and they were judged by Bob Gilbert (no relation).  Nate Rynish's black pullet took BB and a brown red pullet shown by yours truly was RB.   In the bantams (sorry I did not get a count but there were quite a few),  Nate again took BB with a blue wheaten hen, while Bob Walchak's buff cockerel was RB.  Lewis Cunningham judged the Ameraucana bantams.   Nates black pullet went on to win Reserve AOSB, but the bantam blue wheaten did not go on to higher awards.     In the junior show, the Thompson family of Woodville, WI, had BB, and top AOSB on a black pullet, and RB and reserve AOSB on a really nice blue cockerel.   Both of these birds were out of a blue rooster acquired from Jensen Pierson at Indianapolis last fall.   I personally thought the blue LF cockerel in the junior show was best Ameraucana overall by a fairly wide margin.
