Breeding relatives

I know it is said that you can breed father/daughter and mother/son...(for line breeding) - and to never breed brother and sister because that is considered inbreeding, but what about half siblings, like two that have the same dad but different mothers, or two that have the same mother but different dads? Is that a risky endeavor or do they just take on strong characteristics of the same parent?

As long as the half-siblings are both thrifty, up to size, have no major faults, and don't have the same faults, it's not a problem.   I have done it consistently over the years.   It is just another form of line breeding to help set the desired traits in a particular line.

Sharon, just thought I'd mention that there are times when you may want to breed a brother to sister but it's not recommended that inbreeding me done too frequently as problems can arise.
