Solid bird with speckles on wings?
« on: February 13, 2013, 01:03:55 PM »
One of my birds has a speckled pattern on its wings in brown and gold. It is solid color other than that. At this point I think it is either a dark blue or a black. I can't catch it yet to check for toe punches. Both wings have the same odd coloration.

At first I thought it was the other blue wheaton, but it is an 'odd duckling'.....

I also noticed that on one of my SPLASH cockerels, it has TWO SPURS on the same leg. How serious of a fault is this? Can I use the bird for breeding if that is his only noticeable fault or am I just making trouble for myself?

So, is there a gene for this and both parents have to have the gene for it to show up or is it just a random thing?

I have another splash cock, but he has that KING attitude...the double spur boy was in the cage with the pullets....

Double Spur cock has brownish wash on his wings.....guess he gets the layer hens to protect and won't be used for breeding....decision made.

Thanks!
