Here is what i did. I used an old watering trough for my brooder and put chicken wire over it so they don't get out. The other pens are for the chicks after they are done in the brooder. I used 2x4s and ripped them in half. I made the pen 8 foot long and divided it in half. The bottom is open and a whole 8 foot sheet of plywood is used for the floor on the top two pens, and the roof of the bottom two pens. I screwed it down so it could be moved easy. The top pens just have wire on top of them. I used 36 inch chicken wire for the sides of the pens also. These are just ideas i am putting out there for you.

I built these the same way that i built my other pens for my chicks. I did add egg boxes to these though and they are right inside the door for easy access. The green coop is were i put some of my hens when i am not breeding them. I let them out to free range in the day time. I am working on building a huge fenced in area now to let them all run in. I just moved to my new house last July and i haven't had time to get all of my pens finished yet. I hope this helps you with ideas.
