What's going on in Michigan?
« on: May 04, 2014, 12:39:49 PM »
I saw this posted in other forums.  Do you have any input on the subject John?

http://www.inquisitr.com/1235774/michigan-loses-right-to-farm-this-week-a-farewell-to-backyard-chickens-and-beekeepers/#mZgSXTk0GbcYZaLO.99

Does this mean it is now determined on the local level, not the state?  That would be such bad news for many to have to give up their livestock.

Our nearby big town of Fayetteville, just passed an ordinance that now allows the keeping of so many chickens, ducks, bees or goats by city residents.  Seems like they are wanting to get into "sustainable living" or some type of community gardening.

Btw, I really wasn't sure where to put this topic.  Maybe we need some type of general subforum.

Another case of a commission making law, instead of the representatives that were elected and get paid to do the job.
Note Farm Bureau, as usual, only represents BIG business.  They are the enemy to small farmers and have the $ and lobbying power to continue to try to put us out of business.  They are against free enterprise and want their BIG members to have monopolies.
