2014 State Fair of Texas
« on: October 10, 2014, 09:38:06 PM »
I cooped the birds in this afternoon and then did a rough count of Ameraucana coop cards. Looks like about 46 head of large fowl Ameraucanas in Blue, Black, Buff, and White were entered. Shoot!!... I knew I should have requested this as an Ameraucana special meet. I wasn't sure I was going to go until it was too late. Oh well, maybe next year. I will still post the results and pictures when it is history...

That's a good number of Ameracanas, not to be an Ameraucana show. Good luck!

It was another good turnout this year. Almost 700 birds. A total of 44 large fowl Ameraucanas were shown in the open and junior show. I was a little confused by the show format this year. I think they combined the open and junior shows and gave out separate awards??  Dennis Thompson judged the Ameraucanas.

Congradulations to Houston Story who won the overall grand champion of the junior show with a black Ameraucana pullet. Houston bought chicks from me back in the spring. He also had RV RB with the same pullet in the open show! Great job Houston!!

I won BV BB Best AOSB and reserve grand champion standard of the open show with a black Ameraucana cockerel from Sharon Yorks.

Congratulations to all.  Thanks for sharing.  Still working on the Ameraucana National.  Be sure to get your entries in for Fayetteville, ARK. this week.

Congratulations, Max! I'm so glad Clubber made the trip from Lucasville to Texas without starting into his molt. He didn't seem at all stressed at Lucasville and actually looked like he liked strutting his stuff in that double coop so hopefully he'll hang on to those feathers so you can show him at Fayetteville. He's a full brother (hatch mate) to the cockerel that won AOSB at Canfield so I'm thinking it's a good idea to hatch some more of those. Ahem...Clif! Max...Keep me updated on how he does for you. Clubber...Sniff, sniff...you did your momma proud!

Max, it's kind of rare when an exhibitor gives credit to the breeder these days.   Congratulations!

Thanks, Mike. I have always tried to give credit where it is due. Otherwise the victory seems a bit hollow.

Thanks everyone  :) I think the best part of the show was seeing that young boy light up when he realized all that he had won. He was bouncing around like a pogo stick and gave me a flying high five  ;D

Yes, the blue pullet is the one. The black pullet belongs to Houston Story.

Thanks, I'm hoping she is not just a happy accident and that I can get some good offspring from her and a couple of her sisters...  :)
