State Fair of Texas
« on: October 21, 2015, 07:57:56 AM »
A special Ameraucana meet was held at the Texas State Fair in Dallas on Oct. 17 & 18, 2015.  This was the largest number of Ameraucanas that the Dallas show has ever had.  Fourteen exhibitors (many of them ABC members) showed 68 head of Ameraucanas and two EELs in the Ameraucana classes.

There were 16 whites shown by 5 exhibitors.  Congratulations to Ernie Haire who won the BV and RV on two white hens.  One splash cockerel was shown by Paul & Angela Smith.  The lavender/self blue class had 6 head shown by 3 exhibitors.  Paul & Angela Smith had BV on their pullet.  McKenzie Sandefer had RV on her cockerel.  The two lavender/self blue were selected best and res. AOV over the EELs and splash cockerel.  The BV buff was a pullet shown by Harper Gomez.  Brady Tindel had RV also on a pullet.  There were three buff shown by two exhibitors.  There were three blue wheaten shown by 2 exhibitors.  Paul & Angela Smith had BV on a pullet.  Matthew Smith had RV also on a pullet.  Paul & Angela Smith had BV on a blue pullet from the 18 head of blues shown by 5 exhibitors.  Max Strawn had RV also on a blue pullet.  Max Strawn also had BV on a black pullet from 21 head shown in the black classes by 8 exhibitors.  Max ‘s black pullet also won BB, best AOSB and Res. Champion Large Fowl.  Max Strawn won the RV black, RB and Res. AOSB on his black hen.  Congratulations, Max, on your successfully wins.  This is another great win for both you and the Ameraucana breed!  Looking forward to showing with you again at our national ABC meet in Fayetteville, Arkansas in three weeks!  There is still time to enter-deadline is Oct. 23!

Dallas had an egg show!  Paul & Angela had 2nd place in the colored egg class and first place in the internal egg class.  EEL eggs placed first and third in the colored egg class.  One more win for the Ameraucana breed!  Ameraucana eggs can be superior and great eating!  Sage Wisner, from Austin, TX.  Judged the eggs and Ben Porter from Morgantown, KY. judged the Ameraucana large fowl.
There wasn’t a Junior show.  Their birds showed with the open class, and no Ameraucanas bantams were shown.

  Pictures coming soon!

Thanks for the great pictures of the winners for those of us not fortunate enough to attend the show. I did have one question, were there no c or k at the show? All of the winners were hens or pullets! Unusual.

I believe that we had males represented in almost every variety. It just seems that some judges are partial to males. I had not noticed that almost all of the BVs and RVs were females, but they were.

Hi Gordon,

There were several Ameraucana males in the show.  However they didn't get selected as BV or RV.
