The two meets were hosted at a Double show by Sandlappers Poultry Club yesterday, Saturday Dec 5th in Blacksville SC. We had some great exhibitors from three states showing more than twice the number of LF than bantams. But the bantams were well represented in 6 colors. Its great to see bantams shown in our area for new folks to see.
LF were exhibited in 7 colors as well. It was good to see some of the more rare colors shown and it would be great to see more shows with this kind of color diversity representing the breed.
Several of the winners in LF went on to achieve higher wins in both shows. And its always good to see the breed represented on Champion row. Also, it's great to see some of the more rare colors not only shown, but reaching prestige wins in the breed and then winning further levels as well.
We enjoyed some good time with folks attending the show. Its always good to get together and talk AMs and share stories of what was learned from last years pairings. It was great to study some of the colors in the standard with several of the members. We can all learn together when questions are raised a shows, even if you do have to sometimes go into the Old English cages to see examples of the standard colors moved closer to perfection. And there were some new folks to come out to see and enjoy the breed at this show. I think a few people left with new stock and I hope that they will be back to shows soon with exhibits of of their own.
There was a good bit of ribbing going on after the first judging. Needless to say, some of us were happy to be able to contribute points to Susan and Maggie in their wins for this show. I hope to see greater and more diverse varieties at the shows in the spring. We hope the bans will be fully lifted and folks can get out and bring their birds to the shows. Meets are set for March and April already.
Congratulations to all of the winners! I am sure there were some birds treated to very special accommodations and feeds this morning after their trip home. And a special thanks to the Sandlappers Club members for all their hard work and hospitality to bring things together. They were great hosts and there are other meets being discussed for this location as we speak.
