State Fair of Texas Poultry Show
« on: October 21, 2016, 01:29:38 AM »
The State Fair of Texas in Dallas will have its Poultry Show this weekend. We have almost gotten everything rounded up around here so we can head out tomorrow. The Poultry Show is on Saturday. We are looking forward to a fun filled weekend with our show friends and family. This show always has several varieties of Ameraucanas exhibited and thousands of people coming through the barn.We are blessed to live in a country where we are free to do what we enjoy doing.

We are still trying to get our birds molted out, but we are proud of the birds that we produced last year and looking forward to getting our show season started. We pray that everyone who is traveling have safe travels. Hope to see everyone there.

Be Blessed,
Ernie Haire

Ernie,  You mention that the show is on Saturday.  Does that mean that you bring the birds back home this weekend?  Our fairs typically hold the poultry for about a week.  Its great for the public to be able to see the variety of breeds and colors.  But it also allows the birds a lot more exposure time to share infections etc.

I hope everyone has a safe and fun trip.   Good Luck!

We could check in on Friday evening or Saturday morning. The birds were judged on Saturday and we were released on Sunday afternoon. We had a great show with quite a few Ameraucanas in both Large Fowl and Bantams. I am not sure about the numbers. Paul Smith was there and he kept track of everything. I feel sure that he will post all of the details when the dust settles and he has time.

Many of the shows in this area are one day shows that will allow us to check in on Friday evening or Saturday morning and release after the awards are presented. The Fairs usually require us to stay a couple of days. They all want livestock and poultry in the barns for the spectators to see.

Be Blessed,
Ernie
