2016 Pelican State Classic Poultry Show in Haynesville, LA.

We will be leaving for Haynesville, Louisiana on Friday evening. I have been talking to the people who are hosting this show the last couple of days. They are planning on the largest show that they have ever had. They have always limited the entries to 800 birds, but have 947 entered. Rather than refuse entries, they have gotten permission to use a side room that they have never used.  I am not sure about the Ameraucana numbers, but it should be a good Ameraucana Meet. There are some breeders from Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas that have entered birds.

We are praying for safe travels for everyone who will be showing this weekend. If you are planning to show in Haynesville, please let us know. If you are planning to go to the show, but not showing please find us. We look forward to meeting new breeders and talking about Ameraucanas.

It is strange how things work out. We have been praying for rain around here for weeks. Today, we are getting rain. I will be loading chickens to go to Haynesville after work today, probably in the rain. Oh well, that is the way it goes around here. We will be late getting to Haynesville this evening.

We wish everyone the best of luck and pray for safe travels. Whether attending a show or a Thanksgiving Gathering, be safe and thankful for the things that you have. We are blessed to live in a country where we are free to do the things that we enjoy. Showing poultry is stupid to some people and therapeutic to others.

We had another great show in a nice facility. There were 65 Bantam Ameraucanas and 39 Large Ameraucanas exhibited on Saturday. It was pretty much the same exhibitors as we had in Baton Rouge in the Open Show, but we did have two Juniors showing this weekend. We were excited to see a couple of new exhibitors in the Bantam Show until they arrived and we realized that their Araucanas had accidentally been entered as Ameraucanas. There weren't but five exhibitors in the Open Show and two exhibitors in the Junior Show. If you are within driving distance of Haynesville, Louisiana we would suggest that you add the Pelican State Classic to your list of shows. It is easy to get into and easy to get out of.
