Well, it has been hot, humid and very wet here for the last week. Our County 4-H Fair is going on now. The Poultry & Pigeon judging was Monday. All of our birds are in various stages of molt, always the same at this time of year. Brandons Silver Pullet won Reserve Large Fowl, this is her second Reserve in just her second show in Junior compition. I thought that was pretty good since she was missing 2 main tail feathers. We are lucky to have a licenced judge do our show. He had 2 tailess, do to molt, hens in the commercial egg layers class. They were 2nd out of 7 pairs. He did very well in all he entered but this little silver pullet is turning out to be something really nice. Several of the other kids are looking at his birds and asking their parents if they can have some. Very nice to see an interest in the breed and in the silver variety. Just had to let everyone know how it is going here.

Congratulations! Reserve large fowl is a nice win.  Would love to see a photo of that Silver Pullet if you have time to post one.

We too are just starting to show the Ameraucanas- Caleb took a couple hens to one show and placed well. He  will enter our open show at the county fair with three blue wheatens and then we will drive up to MN In October - probably only take 3 of his Ameraucanas as space will be an issue.

It is good to hear that other youngsters are taking an interest in the breed.  Had you thought of posting some info about the Ameraucanas and the breed club on your show cages?  Might be a fun project to work on?
