One way to gain favor in obtaining a national meet is to host a very successful District meet, and then take your case to the District Director.

What is needed from the hosting show for a district meet?
Any other requirements?

Doug,

District Directors tend to place district meets at shows that more than 3 or 4 folks tend to show Ameraucana. Some directors rotate the district  meet across the district if there are multiple viable shows, others are pretty consistant and place the meet at the same location each year. If you have ideas, I would suggest contacting your district director. There has been substantial growth in membership in the Northeastern District in the last two years outside of Ohio and Pennsylvania . . . the meet reports from the bulletins tell the show story and how many birds have been shown at what shows.

I have driven to Great Falls, MT and I would drive to Maine.
