Big Sky Poultry Exposition
« on: October 03, 2010, 08:12:29 PM »
Well, I brought the darn basket home again.......

This time my wheaten cock won Best AOSB and Champion Ameraucana.  My white cock won Reserve AOSB.

I also had an old sebastopol goose take Reserve Champion Goose.

In the second show my white cock won Reserve AOSB.

And, Grace won Reserve Champion Waterfowl with a young sebastopol goose in the open show, not junior.

No, I didn\'t get any pictures.  I wasn\'t feeling well and the judging wasn\'t done when we left for dinner at 6:50 pm.

Awards were presented so fast I didn\'t catch what was Show Champion or Reserve.

I haven\'t got any pictures yet of my wheaten cock, he\'s really just my back up and I only took him because he was available.

The white cock is on my web site:

I think I am going to take a cockerel to the Stevenson show next week and see how he does.  He has a much better comb and darker legs.

Beautiful bird.  It\'s hard to fault him, but it would be nice see a fuller, deeper chest.  His legs look plenty dark to me.   That is how an Ameraucana tail should be put together, with the main sickles extending beyond the main tail.   But is he missing the third main tail feather from the bottom?   How does he stack up for weight?   Again, very nice bird.

Mike, the picture is from the Spring.  Right now he is just coming out of molt and still has a few muff feathers that are missing.

This guy is a bruiser.  He is the biggest bird on the property, if I remember correctly he is pushing 8 lbs +.  He is one of the birds I got from Carl Fosbrink.  The cockerels I am thinking of taking to the next show are from a cross of this line and mine and have a broader, deeper chest.

I sold chicks to Carl many years ago, maybe more than once.

Forgot to mention, this guy loves his baths and will fall asleep in your arms while being groomed.

This is one of the birds that is carrying the barred gene.....

I was going thru some old photos and saw this one of Carl Fosbringk, so thought since his name came up there it would be a good place to post it.
