Travel Boxes??
« on: September 10, 2011, 12:15:20 PM »
Does anyone have any directions/measurements for making travel boxes.

My husband wants to get these done so we can attach them to the trailer and be ready to go.

If you have a link to any sites that would be appreciated too.  I am looking for LF and bantam boxes.

If anyone in the PNW plans on going to the show, I have room for two more people and lots of birds.

I\'m not sure what you mean by travel boxes.  Do you have photos or links to sites that show them?

Similar to this,  but would be a bit shorter.  Would house 4-5 birds in their own little cubby.  I hope to find one that has an area for feed cups on the front.

The \"attach them to the trailer\" threw me off track.  I have a couple similar to that, but haven\'t attached to anything.
I prefer the plastic Pet Taxi units.

Beth,
Is that your trailer?  I\'ve seen that style for dogs.

Jean,
Here are a couple photos of a three piece unit I had for bantams in the top two rows and LF on in the bottom.  It slid into my 5\' by 8\' cargo trailer and was held in place by some screws in the floor and wall.  The 3 sections stack on top each other. Welded wire doors slide up and down and small plastic can be hung on the wire to feed and water the birds.  It worked well for transporting to and from shows.

I wish - that sucker is $10K! :o  Just trying to picture what Jean meant. No, my birds travel in dog crates in the back of the truck.

I like that 3 piece unit. It would be nice to have something on wheels,  and I like that it unstacks, since my truck has a cap.

Here is the new \"chicken\" trailer and the boxes my husband built.  He didn\'t want to build multiples, so I got about 15 singles.

ETA:  And there is still room for the 8 sebastopols I am bringing.

The geese will be in dog crates.

Here are some closer pics of a couple of the boxes.  They aren\'t perfect, but workable for our first try.

Jean, are the sides of those travel boxes made out of pegboard or is it luan plyboard with wholes drilled in it? I really like your design.
