You can, and I have, but I can\'t recommend it. By crossing the two varieties you may be bringing in brassiness in the silver males. I did it to improve type in my small flock of goldens. Now many of the goldens have white wing tips on the outside two to four primaries. I hope to breed that out within a few years. A better cross (once you have the type you want) is to cross blue laced gold with goldens. It\'s like mating wheatens with blue wheatens - you end up with about have of each. Another thing I didn\'t like about the Silver Wyandotte large fowl was that they were very slow to feather out, while the goldens are fast feathering. Plus they are good producers of medium sized dark brown eggs. Part of my start in the goldens came from Duane Urch, but I did bring in other bloodlines as well.
