Can anyone tell me if my cockerel is a true ameraucana?

Here are a couple of pictures of him.

He is not a recognized variety, but looks to have the breed characteristics.  They are good photos, but without being able to look him over more I can\'t see all the traits that would make him an Ameraucana (provided he also had the correct  color(s) & feather pattern to be a recognized variety).
A few year ago I had one that looked like him and he was used in a LF brown red project, because even though he doesn\'t meet the brown red description he was the closest we had.  I think he is, what they call, split at the E-locus for Extended Black(E) and Birchen(E^R).  If he came from black parents I would guess the hen is also E/E^R.  Extended Black seems to cover the Birchen (whether gold or silver shows) better on females than males.
He may be used as a breeder to produce blacks or brown reds if nothing better is available, but wouldn\'t recommend it unless you are looking for a project.

Overall he looks good based on what I can see. I agree that I would not use him for black or blue unless I had nothing else to work with. He would be better for the brown red project.
