Here is one for you experts,

This may be a bit off topic, since it doesn\'t concern my Ameraucana chickens.  They breed true.

I have my dog kennel next to my pen of \"heritage\" breed chickens and hatched a really weird looking chick this past year.  I\'m wondering if it is the result of mating thru the wire or perhaps a bunch of mutations...all at once.

Where did I go wrong?

Well, I think you are dealing with the mottling gene coupled with a few different modifiers-including the little known four legged gene.  Appears male.  Offspring should lay brown puppies, er, eggs...

I\'m getting ready to setup breeding pens and would like to know what I should mate him with and what would be the expected results of the F2 generation?

There is one mean looking junkyard dog that  I REALLY don\'t want to meet up with in the dark.   Especially after imbibing some of nature\'s finer nectar.   Good one John.

How old is he now?  Watch out if he grows spurs on all four legs.

Just wondering, do you have a hard time catching him?

John,

I had a good laugh. I think it should have the scientific name:

Canis gallus domesticus
