Has anyone ever had a black chick hatch out with all black down? No cream color what so ever. It is as dark as they come. The chick is beautiful and his shanks are black as well.

To have no cream what so ever is rare in my experiences.  The photos of LF brown red chicks on the ABC site show some cream color on some of the chicks and the photos of the bantams show cream on all of them.

I have had a few all blacks hatch in the large fowl.  From black x black matings and black x blue matings.  And I\'ve never had any brown reds on the premises, so there were no accidents.  One had more of a dark gray color instead of cream and both had foot pads that looked very gray.

I don\'t have Brown Reds either. This came from a Black to Lavender Mating, the shanks are black and the pads are darker also. It is very lovely and BLACK.

Thanks for all the replies, I had never had one hatch that way, most had cream on their belly, etc

Just good to know that I am not alone  :D
