my mother\'s favorite saying was \"keep your words soft and sweet in case you have to eat them\"  That said . . . .

I have had pets and/or livestock for most of my long life.  All manner of fowl plus dogs, cats, goats, pigs, cows, donkeys, mules, and horses.  It has been my experience that \"most\" of the time going to extreme measures to avoid euthanasia ends up costing the animal more pain.
